Shepherd did not appear in Waning Moon but was featured in Floss's reference sheet.

Trail of Ashes

Floss tells Bramblestar and Sedgewhisker that she and her kits were driven from the horseplace by Breeze's rogues after they killed Smoky. Dark Forest cats came that night and killed Petunia, Shepherd dying from his wounds the next day. Later that same day, the Dark Forest cats came again and killed Sally.
